Still lazy..

Again, I’ve been remiss in my blogging duties, and I apologise. Life has a habit of getting in the way these days, much to my own frustration, but there is precious little I can do about it.

Anyway, whats been going on then? Well, the ‘Jeckyll & Hyde’ nature of our performances seems to be a continuing theme, with the team playing pretty much .500 hockey currently. Thankfully, both the Bison and the Flames seem to be having ‘wobbles’ of their own, which is keeping us in the driving seat (plus we still have those games in hand). A bit more consistency, and we might be able to put some much needed daylight between ourselves and the pack. I still feel that the league is ours for the taking, but I wonder if we are making it harder for ourselves than needs be.

The game against the Steelpups last week was awful. We stupidly got suckered in to playing their game, instead of playing ours. If you play hockey against the Puppies, they have no answer, and you will get the points. get suckered in to Payettes bullshit however… And how bloody dumb was Schnabel to get drawn into that non-fight with Pattinson? (By the way, if a player from any other team wants to batter the shite out of that weasel, please, feel free to do so. ) Schnabel was rightly disgusted with himself after that one. Yes, it was a bit of good gamesmanship from Payette, but it left a nasty taste in the mouth given that Pattinson made zero effort at all, and didn’t even attempt to do anything but drop straight to the ice like a bag of shit.

And to make matters worse, we then lost to MK in the cup. I wasn’t at the game, so i won’t comment, suffice to say that it looks like we are destined to never be EPL Cup winners. Ho hum.

And last night? Well, we won, comfortably as it happens, but by christ was it flat. The crowd was flat, the play was flat. The game never seemed to truly spark into life at all, in my opinion. Maybe we have been spoilt this past week with the Olympic hockey on the telly, but it all looked so slooooow out there on the ice. Certainly missing Kovar and Chong took away a lot of our attacking pace, but still… The win was important however. Hell, winning is the only thing really. No one remembers who came second, etc…

Now, I was going to have a bit of a rant about the officiating next, but I’ve decided to leave that for now, and give it its own piece later in the week. So stay tuned, people.
