Keeping the British end up!

Well, 2 more signings announced this past Tuesday, and again, 2 names to keep even the most miserable Phoenix fan happy inside. Captain fantastic Luke Boothroyd returns to the club for his 6th campaign in the Ice Dome (and presumably his 5th wearing the ‘C’), which should see him pass the 300 game mark for the club (2nd only to Tony Hand in all time club apperances). Calm and collected at the back, ‘Boots’ is a strong stable influence, and one of the clubs ‘Franchise’ players.

Also returning is popular forward James Archer, heading into his 3th season at the club, and hopefully his 200th apperance for us (he is currently 6th in the club all time games played list). Coming off the back of his best season for the Phoenix so far (53 points), hopes are high he will continue to improve and even threaten his career best season of 2006/07 when he hit 62 points for Peterborough.

Other than that, it has been pretty quiet on the Phoenix front. It was announced on Twitter that Season Ticket sales are ahead of this time last year, with even more newbies signing up, which is always a positive. And apparently the rink is having a bit of a spruce up at the minute, which was always going to be welcome news, as after 7 years, it is starting to look a bit ‘shabby’, shall we say. Mind you, it does have a certaoin amount of ‘character’, and truth be told, when we (eventually) leave the old place for our permamnet rink, whenever that may be, I for one will kinda miss the place.

Anyways, more rambloing nonsense from me at the wekend, folks. I’m sure I’ll have thought of something to prattle on about by Sunday.
