The ‘perfect’ ice rink.

So, I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what would constitute the ‘perfect’ ice rink for the future of the Phoenix. Obviously this is an ‘ideal world’ scenario, but this is the list of what I would consider to be the requirements for a new ‘home’:

Ice Pads: 2

Seats: 3,000 minimum (Primary pad), 500 minimum (Secondary Pad)

Configuration: Horseshoe (seating on both sides and around 1 end of the ice surface)

Ice: 60m x 30m Olympic size (Primary), 56m x 26m ‘International’ size (Secondary)

Locker Rooms: 4 (1x ‘Home’ luxury locker room, 3 x ‘Away’), 2 x Referees rooms

Scoreboards: Something along the lines of the 352 GF 9120-2 (http://www.stramatel.com/hockey/ice_hockey/285_352_gf_9120-2.html), or a PC/LCD screen based system such as this: http://www.pcscoreboards.com/hockey-choose.shtml?gclid=CJ619v6hibgCFfDMtAodSTYApA

Video Screens: 2x 72″/75″ LCD/LED flat panels

Disabled seating: 2x wheelchair spaces at the rear of each seating block, 10 spaces behind ‘open’ end goal.

Facilities: in rink bar (500 capacity), fast food outlet, 2 x food kiosks, 4x toilet rooms (2x male, 2x female), 2x disabled toilet rooms (unisex), skate hire, box office, commentary box (TV/Radio), DJ booth, Rink Shop, A/V control room.

Car parking: @400 spaces

Transport links: Ideally within 1/2 mile of tram and/or bus stops. Easy access from M60 motorway.

Video facilities: 1x ‘hard’ camera (centre line, between team benches), 2x ‘hard’ cameras (behind goals), 2x ‘mobile’ cameras (non live feed to screens).
