Don’t like it? Tough…..

I have a serious emotional involvement with the Manchester Phoenix. I was there when the Storm went bust. I helped organise the fans protest outside the Arena when we all thought it was their fault, before Gary Cowan came clean about it.

I was there at the town hall meetings. I stood up and joined the FOMIH steering group. I helped build the club from an idea to a reality. I have helped out on match nights, in the office, on the phones. I’ve spent cold, hard cash i could ill afford. I’ve taken (and still to this day take) abuse from other fans because I believe that what I do for the club matters.

And unlike some, I’m not going to walk away, or bleat on about not being part of the Red Hockey Family. I want what i have always wanted. I want the Phoenix to be secure. Stable. To continue on for another decade. Or 2. Or 3.

And I don’t give a shit if some folks don’t like this attitude. Sometimes you have to deal with the Devil as it were, and I’m more than willing to do that. I will give Wayne Scholes the chance to prove me wrong about his ownership of the Tigers being an ego trip, and him not caring about anyone else. Because if he does, well, things could get very interesting for the future of our little sport, and after 10 years of toil, we should be there when it happens.
